The International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) presents the ninth edition of the Skyrunning World Championships on the volcanic island of La Gomera (Canary Islands, Spain). National teams from around the world will battle for 27 sets of medals across three disciplines: VERTICAL, SKY and SKYULTRA. The races are held as part of the Gomera Paradise series.

The team was selected through the qualification races on Babia Góra (6 June 2026) — selection was based on the percentage of the norm achieved in the 2xBabia Góra (20 km) and 4xBabia Góra (55 km) races. The discipline raced in La Gomera is independent of the qualifying distance.

All disciplines: Skyrunning shoes with socks, a Poland national team jersey and a personal ID (a copy is accepted).

VERTICAL & SKY

  • Waterproof, breathable jacket with taped seams and hood (Gore-Tex or similar)

Poles are allowed in all disciplines — if used, they must be carried for the whole course (they cannot be left behind or discarded).

Medals & classification

Across the three disciplines (VERTICAL, SKY, SKYULTRA), 27 sets of medals are at stake — in the individual, team and Combined classifications.

  • All medallists qualify for the SkyMasters — the final of the 2026 Skyrunner® World Series.
  • All participants are automatically included in the ISF Ranking.

The island of La Gomera

A volcanic island just 22 km across, set in the North Atlantic south-west of Tenerife. Its motto “from hell to heaven” captures the character of the courses.

The rocky skyline rises to 1,487 m; the higher, often mist-shrouded slopes are covered by the dense laurel forests of Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

La Gomera is also famed for its whistled language (silbo), once used to communicate across deep ravines — today an intangible cultural heritage. The island was Christopher Columbus’s last port of call before his 1492 voyage to the Americas.

Getting there & accommodation

Getting there

  • Ferry: from Tenerife (Los Cristianos) to La Gomera — approx. 50 min (Fred Olsen).
  • Plane: Binter Canarias from Tenerife North or Gran Canaria to La Gomera airport (close to Hotel Tecina).

Accommodation

Hotel Jardín Tecina — the race hotel (check-in 18 Sept, check-out 21 Sept).

  • Each national team: free half-board accommodation for 2 athletes.
  • Double room: €104.54 / person / night; single room: €154.02.
