How do I get an ISF license?
A license can be obtained by registering on the official International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) website and paying the annual fee. The process requires completing a personal data form and submitting a current medical certificate confirming no contraindications to high-altitude running.
Is a license mandatory at all events?
An ISF license is mandatory for athletes competing in World Championships, Continental Championships and races counting towards the Skyrunner® World Series. It is not required at many local skyrunning races in Poland, but is strongly recommended.
What are the main benefits of holding a license?
Main benefits include: the ability to collect points in the official ISF ranking, sports insurance covering high-altitude races, discounts on entry fees at selected partner races, and the right to compete in World and European Championships as a national representative.
What period does the license cover?
An ISF license is issued for a given calendar year and is valid from the moment the application is approved until 31 December of that year. The license must be renewed each year by submitting updated medical certificates and paying the subscription fee.
Do juniors also need a license?
Yes, juniors competing in the Youth Skyrunning World Championships and other official youth events under the ISF umbrella also need a valid ISF athlete license.
